The community known as the Boldons is more recently known for Boldon Colliery but many of the larger properties in West and East Boldon were owned and lived in by many of Sunderlands Industrialists, in particular the shipbuilding families.

The photograph above shows the Fire Station in East Boldon that was converted to the Scout Hut.
