Born on 22nd September 1908 , Jack, known as Cast Iron Casey had 224 fights of which he won 148, 82 by knock-outs. Although his parents John and Elizabeth came from the East End, Jack was actually born in Edward Burdis Street Southwick.  Shortly after he was born the family moved back to the East End. His first official fight came when he was just 18 when he beat W.Teasdale on the 17th July 1926.

Also fondly known as the Assassin, Jack was never put on the floor throughout his career. On 23rd April 1934 he beat the British champion Tommy Farr. Although the fight was not for the title it proved he was a formidable opponent.
