Fred Gooch

Fred Gooch who, for most of his career worked on the Wear in the shipyards has a  passion for ships which has led him to use his skills of model making into building model ships that are so accurate in detail that they will be a lasting memory to our Ship Building History.

A complete change to his normal model making , the Sunderland Minster model shows Freds passion for his hobby and dedication to his home town.

DSV STENA SEAWELL
First of two diving support vessels built at Pallion  Shipyard by Sunderland Shipbuilders Ltd for Northern Coasters of Aberdeen in 1986.

HMS Farnham Castle

H.M.S.Farnham Castle

Castle Class Frigate built by John Crown at North Sands, Sunderland in 1944.

MS DACEBANK

MS DACEBANK
One of three 18,700 dwt Fish class cargo liners built by Sunderland Shipbuilders Ltd at Pallion Shipyard for the Bank Line in 1979. Another three were built at Deptford Shipyard. 

Superflex Alpha

Superflex Alpha
First of seven Mark III Superflex ferries built at Pallion Shipyard by North East Shipbuilders Ltd for VR Shipping in 1987.

Vishva Prafulla

Vishva Prafulla
Last of three 16000 tonne dwt general cargo ships built at the Pallion Shipyard of Sunderland Shipbuilders Ltd for the Shipping Corporation of India in 1981. Another three were built at Deptford Shipyard.

Badagry Palm

15000 dwt cargo ship built for Palm Line by Sunderland Shipbuilders Ltd at their North Sands Shipyard in 1979. The last cargo ship to be built at North Sands.

10000 dwt Cargo Carrier built by William Doxford  & Sons at Pallion Shipyard in 1965 for The Baltic Shipping Corporation.

Cliff Quay

Cliff Quay
4600 dwt steam collier built by William Pickersgill at Southwick Shipyard, for the British Electricity Authority. Completed 1950.
