Walk down Church Walk, which leads connects Holy Trinity Church to Trafalgar Square and on the right you will come across the school. Off the beaten track, this Victorian building was once a charity school for girls.

Built using £1500 funding from a wealthy coal fitters wife Mrs Elizabeth Donnison who stipulated that the girls be born in the parish of Sunderland.

The school carried out its good work right into the 1940's when the welfare state took responsibility.

Education for Boys: Orphanage.
